A Must Have! - An Ironclad Medical Imaging Equipment Warranty

October 20, 2023

Regardless of where you shop for healthcare Radiology systems , it is crucial to be educated on a company's warranty. Many people make the mistake of focusing on the warranty of product they are buying. While true you need to think about what happens in the event an X-ray device malfunctions, to that end a warranty becomes your insurance. What should concern you most is the company behind the warranty. If you ever need assistance, will your experience be expected or unexpected? What if the company takes care of your product as specified but you lost the income of 10 patients because it was out of clinical use for more than 20 days? Before you cross the "t's" and dot the "i", we suggest exploring the different warranty options that organizations present you for the same product offering.

A product purchased includes a warranty guarantee. That is the basic minimum for all medical imaging system transactions. The terms and conditions will be your policy in a contract between two parties. If you purchase from an OEM, you can experience a high level of response to all your concerns. That should be a given since a high level response was proceeded by the highest amount paid for equipment purchases. The same level of service is offered by 3 rd party resellers but you have to know what to look for.

At NCD Medical, our mission is to give each client the absolute best customer experience. We want your business and we want your future repeat business. Not only that, we want your recommendation to other physicians and medical staff. The gold standard is the difference NCD provides. It all starts with experience. Knowledgeable and competent representatives that help find a solution that works for you. First indicator to watch for, do they promptly answer the phone and respond to emails when needed? Don't be stuck in voicemail hell. It's the expected industry standard for a warranty work order request to be handled the same day by phone and a schedule for onsite service agreed upon shortly after. In today's busy world, your urgent situation needs attention right away. Your call back is a priority. Our staff will not hesitate to give out their cell phone number in important matters. For over 20 years, NCD Medical has steadily built its business to service clients nationwide and internationally. Are you comfortable with a warranty from that 3-year old or that 5-year old company that, unbeknown to you, may go bankrupt before the warranty has expired? What if that company knowingly decides not to honor the contract? Some companies lack serious ethics and responsibilities. They will do everything possible to offer the lowest price for a sale and may not be as responsive when hearing they have to spend thousands of dollars to fix the mess they created. That's the importance of having good references. As always, watch out for too good to be true deals.

How about uptime guarantees? What that describes is something involved with service contracts only. Diagnostic imaging service contracts differ from medical X-ray warranty coverage. A warranty from NCD Medical will clearly state that the equipment you purchased will be in superb working condition upon arrival and will continue to perform as intended there after. Unique to NCD, we have a physicist inspect each refurbished X-ray system prior to you taking delivery. This means every imaging system from NCD is guaranteed to comply with your state healthcare department on day one. Also we will include the FDA registration form 2579. As example of a typical service agreement, it usually states the medical equipment under contract was operating normally and has now malfunctioned. Uptime specified in service contracts determines the downtime you can expect before receiving assistance; 2-hour response, 4- hour response, even 24-48 hours for remote regions.

Warranty coverage varies between refurbishment companies, the original equipment manufacturer and financial service organizations. Typically your options are for 30 days, 90 days, 6-months, 1-year, and 3-years. The majority of NCD Medical warranty coverage is for six-months parts and labor which is universally adopted by industry competitors. Some of our warranties are for one to three years depending on the equipment purchased. International clients are still under coverage. Find out more how coverage differs from our domestic offering. NCD Medical provides discounts for the trade-in of surplus radiographic systems, functioning or not.

For nearly half a century, medical industry parts replacement was available from OEM stock at a moments notice and without headaches. The industry has entered a new era with the standard operating procedures of the past having worsened. Out of stock is now a common phrase we've heard in the medical parts sector. Delayed parts delivery is another area of concern with supply chain interruptions and parts manufactured in other countries. What is supposed to take less than a week for delivery can sometimes turn into a month with new high-end medical imaging parts. NCD Medical has adjusted for the times. We have developed a definitive source of 3rd party companies that provide new and used parts from their inventory. We have successfully bypassed the OEM vendors when needed and without compromise. Any parts request required of a NCD warranty will be supplied within a few days at the very latest and many times easily delivered overnight! Only a company with years of experience can anticipate what is required to take care of your needs promptly and professionally.

Has your warranty with NCD expired? We will still be responsive to your needs and take care of you in any way that we can. In addition, we offer extended contracts for all your medical X-ray needs. NCD provides financing options and the leasing of medical imaging equipment.

NCD wants you as a happy client. Find out more!

Very often there is a need to acquire additional capability in our health care facilities but there isn't always the funds to purchase a new, full-functioned, state of the art, diagnostic imaging system. Therefore, a decision must be made to determine if the additional services can be shifted to another facility or if it is critical or at least necessary to remain at your facility. The decision usually comes back that it needs to remain and options to accommodate it must be considered.

Digital Radiography - Electronic X-Ray - When, Why and How?

It seems like we have crossed the healthcare frontier and the only thing left to conquer is analog or film based x-ray systems. MRI's, CT's, Ultrasound, PET, Bone Densitometry, Mammography and most diagnostic imaging systems output digital data, that is except for Radiography and Fluoroscopy. Most existing systems are still analog and put out either x-ray film and/or analog video. Although most mobile C-arms are now being produced with digital output capability, most existing C-arms, X-ray systems and R/F systems have not yet been upgraded. When you consider that today there are more x-ray studies done than any other modality study, we should concede, we are way overdue in moving to electronic Rad and Fluoro. These upgrades should probably be initiated before all others at medical facilities today.

How To Get The Most From Your Radiology Dollar
June 3, 2011

The decisions are getting harder when we try and determine what our facility should invest in to provide the best patient care. 256 slice CTs, 3.0T MRIs, Digital Mammography, PACS Upgrade, EHR and so on....? We first try and determine our available budget or we are asked to submit a request for funds based upon current and future requirements, local competition and/or physician requirements. It is now necessary to take a long hard look at what is currently being utilized and determine how best to enhance capabilities. You probably begin to bring in vendors to discuss the capabilities of their new systems, as well as potential costs. If you are like many administrators, you immediately get a large blast of reality $$$$$$$. You instantly know that you will be limited to one purchase or less and it's possible funding won't be available for several years. If you are experiencing growth, patient count is increasing, test procedures are on the increase, and avaliable system time is becoming harder and harder to come by, then you know you will need to upgrade Radiology capacity.
